The area of Verga is essentially the continuation of Kalamata, since it is located at a distance of only 8 kilometers from its center at an altitude of approximately 200 meters and has a population of 2,125 permanent residents. It is built on a slope with a magnificent view of the sea and intense nightlife.

One of the busiest summer destinations for locals and visitors who don't want to stray too far from Kalamata is Almyros Beach, which some call Vergas Beach since it is located in the area of the same name. It is embroidered with white pebbles and surrounded by olives, palms and tamarisks. With a view of Taygetos one can enjoy swimming in its calm waters or drinking in the continuous beach bars and nightclubs that are literally on the wave.

Verga has an abundance of accommodation such as rooms for rent, hotels and also ultra-luxury villas as well as some shops to meet daily needs. Access during the summer months is somewhat difficult due to the intense tourist traffic.

Higher, at an altitude of 870 meters, is the settlement of Ano Verga, a picturesque village, densely built, with stone houses and cobbled streets, all pedestrian, which end in the central square of the village with the cool springs and the age-old plane trees. The view of the endless blue and green of Taygetus soothes your soul. Here, tourism is scarce, accommodation and taverns few, mainly for lovers of peace and unspoiled nature.
