Gialova
The golden coast with the rare wetland.
Gialova is a small seaside village among the Messinian hills at a distance of 7.5 kilometers north of Pylos, and 14.5 kilometers south of Chora, with only 228 permanent residents. It has zero altitude and is located on the northern coast of the Gulf of Pylos. Its close proximity to Pylos and the famous Voidokoilia beach, its strategic position in the bay of Navarino and its proximity to the facilities of the five-star resort "Costa Navarino" highlighted Gialova in particular during last 10-15 years, although it was already enjoying fame thanks to its own, beautiful coasts and the rare wetland formed in the homonymous Gialova Lagoon.

The natural landscape impresses the visitor. It is one of the most important wetlands in Europe and is part of the Natura 2000 network. It is the southernmost migration station of Balkan migratory birds from and to Africa. Hundreds of bird species find refuge there. The beach of Gialova stretches for several kilometers and at the end of it is the path that leads to Voidokoilia, the path from which one can go up to Paliokastro but also the point where one can swim across to the island of Sfaktiria.

More famous, however, is the Golden Beach or Divari which is essentially an extension of the beach of Gialova in the direction of the lagoon. It is a wonderful coast of about 4 kilometers, which has organized and unorganized sections and attracts mainly young people. Here, of course, the sand dominates – which also offers the "golden" impression created by the landscape– the waters are crystal clear, while there is also the possibility of wind surfing and jet skiing. Enchanting beaches, green destinations, luxurious restaurants and traditional taverns make up an ideal setting for comfortable and peaceful holidays in Gialova. Many foreign as well as domestic vacationers have been organizing their vacations in Gialova and the wider area in recent years.

It is of great investment interest since the demand for a country house and tourist farm has increased significantly. The hills around the wider area of Gialova, but also of Pylos, are dominated by luxurious detached houses and villas.
