At the point where the last gorge of Taygetos, that of Byros, ends in a sheltered cove, lies the fantastically stone Kardamyli. A seaside picturesque village with a landscape of special natural beauty and a view of the Messinian gulf.

It is one of the best preserved traditional settlements and is probably the most important tourist resort of Messinia. In its paved alleys, among its traditional, Maniac architecture, stone houses with tiled roofs, it attracts a large number of visitors, especially in the summer months. The beauty of Kardamyli rises even more thanks to its wonderful beaches. The most popular and at the shortest distance is Ritsa with large round pebbles and blue waters, which is also organized in some places. However, it is worth visiting Delfinia beach with its coarse sand as well as the famous beach of Foneas with its imposing rocks and crystal clear waters. For lovers of wild beauty, about half an hour away is the Refuge, which has one of the largest caves in the country and offers diving in clear blue waters from the smooth rocks.

Directly across from Kardamili is the small green islet of Meropi, where serious swimmers can easily reach it by swimming. It is also worth renting a bike and riding up to Ancient Kardamili or using your car and exploring nearby stone, historical villages such as Exohori, Tseria, Kastania and Milia.
