Golden Visa 2023 – Is the Peloponnese affected?
In September 2022, the Prime Minister of Greece announced the increase of the minimum amount required for obtaining a Golden Visa in Greece, from €250,000 to €500,000.
During further announcements, it was clarified that the change will affect only in specific regions of the country.

The purpose of this increase, as announced, is to reduce the housing problem that has been created for Greeks in large urban centers such as Athens and Thessaloniki. Specifically, in these areas, property sales prices have risen so dramatically, due to the large influx of foreign investors, that buying a home for personal housing is almost impossible for a Greek family.

The areas affected by this increase are some sought-after districts of Athens, Thessaloniki and the islands of Mykonos and Santorini. It has been announced that this change will take effect from May 1, 2023.

The bottom line for buyers interested in the Peloponnese is that the changes to the Golden Visa program do not affect their plans at all.
